Yesterday, I didn’t get my kids Easter baskets… It’s the first time. It had slipped my mind, and when I thought about putting in one for kids their ages (15b and 13g), it all seemed like stuff that would just go in a drawer and never be seen again. Later, when I asked them if they were disappointed, my son said, “Honestly, [getting a basket] didn’t even cross my mind.” So, I suppose we’ve made it to the point where they only really want expensive stuff… musical instruments, fancy dresses, trips to get boba tea… normal teen stuff. Although some of those Lego sets were PRICEY back in the Lego days.

Do you like kitschy design for holidays and events? Or do you love more of a subtle decor?

I was really stoked that a local organization was giving away FREE trees in local species. I ordered a white oak and a river birch. The day came to pick them up, so I made sure I had the truck to put them in the bed. Well… turns out… there was no need for a truck.

Front: Oakey. Back: Birchie.

White oaks grow about a foot a year… so when my youngest graduates high school in 4 years, this tree *may* be as tall as we are. River birch trees grow 3-4 ft a year, so we’ll have a little height eventually. Mr. Nintendo said, “This is awesome! Our kids’ grandkids will really get to enjoy them.”

We planted them anyway.

Back to design… Do you decorate for each holiday? I used to do a little something for each and go all out for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. But it’s kind of dwindled to just the big three. I always think, “I should get those decorations out…” and then the day passes. But that’s fine, too. Grace for all of us! YOU get some grace. And YOU get some grace.

Ok, I love ya. Buh Bye.
